The Values Alignment PrincipleDouglas Breitbart & Fabian Szulanski 2017Summary:All institutions, companies, organizations, and governments have a declared mission statements or expressions of shared Values. They are usually expressed in universally positive, aspirational, and “in-service-to” language, for making our lives and world better.
Their actions, however, often result in adverse or destructive impacts that damage or threaten our planet and every living thing on it. We believe the source of these challenges can be traced back to a disconnect and failure to apply and infuse their stated values to their decision-making, and subsequent actions.
The Values Alignment Principle explores the individual and collective generative process, from concept to collaboration; and, from consensus to enaction. It seeks to identify the causes for the difference between stated intentions and enacted results; and, explores the means to bring the intention, expression and enaction of collective endeavors into alignment.
